Jim Hutchens, Certified Public Accountant

James (Jim) Hutchens is a Certified Public Accountant located in Sandpoint, Idaho. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1980 with a degree in professional accounting. Jim became partner in a CPA firm in 1998 and became the sole owner in 2004. Jim has extensive expertise in corporate, individual and partnership returns. Jim is married to Patty Hutchens, his wife of 23 years. They have two grown sons.

Lou MacAfee, Enrolled Agent

Lou has been in the accounting world of Sandpoint for over 20 years. She is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS; she has many years' experience in tax preparation with an exceptional interest in non-profit accounting and tax returns. She has been a QuickBooks Pro Advisor for over 15 years and specializes in QuickBooks consulting and training for small business owners. Lou has been married to Terence MacAfee for 36 years and has one grown daughter.

Mary-Claude Margairaz, Office Manager & Bookkeeper

Mary-Claude grew up and received her business degree in Switzerland. She has been with James Hutchens PA since 2012, but worked for Jim for six years in the mid-nineties as well. Mary-Claude has been a QuickBooks Pro Advisor since 2012. She enjoys exploring other countries and all outdoor activities.

Shannon Randall-Dunton, Bookkeeper

Shannon was born and raised in San Diego County. She and her family moved to Idaho in 2005 to experience all the seasons of the beautiful northwest. She has over 28 years of bookkeeping experience and joined our firm in 2012. Shannon prides herself in providing the best service possible to her clients. She enjoys volleyball, hiking, hunting and fishing with her husband.

Melissa Colin, Administrative Assistant

Melissa has been an Administrative Assistant for James Hutchens PA for a combined six years. She has resided in Northern Idaho since the age of 10 and enjoys the beauty of her hometown, Sandpoint and all it has to offer.

Paula Long, Bookkeeper

Paula was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Sandpoint in 2015 with her husband of 35 years to enjoy the Northwest lifestyle. She has over 16 years of customer service experience performing various bookkeeping roles and always goes above & beyond to ensure her clients are taken care of. Aside from her family, her passion includes hiking, kayaking, and gardening.

Kanista Nuxoll, Bookkeeper

Kanista grew up in Lewiston, Idaho and received her business degree at Lewis-Clark State College in 2015, and is currently working towards becoming a CPA. Kanista is a recent addition to our Hutchens Team as of January 2017, with a couple years of bookkeeping experience and many more in customer service. She enjoys many of the outdoor opportunities the Great Northwest has to offer such as hiking, snowboarding and biking as well as sewing.

Linda Zeringer, Certified Public Accountant

Linda Zeringer is a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of experience in both public and private accounting. Having lived most of her life in Spokane, she and her husband Larry recently fulfilled a dream and moved to the Sandpoint area in July 2017. With a married daughter in Spokane, and a married son in Seattle, they enjoy visiting with their two granddaughters and three step-grandchildren. They own a summer cabin on Pend Oreille River, enjoys outdoor activities, and are looking forward to more hiking around Sandpoint with her family.

Jenna Nielsen, Administrative Assistant

Jenna Nielsen is a Seattle-area native and has lived in Northern Idaho since 2007. She has worked in the business management fields for many a year, and is excited to be the newest member of Jim Hutchens administrative team. When not at the office she’s also known as a fire fighters wife, mother of teens and multi-published author.
